Two people from Sutton Crosses have appeared before magistrates in relation to the killing of fox cubs.
Paul Oliver (39) and Hannah Rose (29), appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with a series of offences after footage appeared to show live fox cubs being taken into a kennel of hunting hounds in south Herefordshire.
The court case follows animal welfare charity The League Against Cruel Sports releasing footage in June 2016 of incidents involving the fox cubs.
The scenes were filmed by the Hunt Investigation Team, supported by the League Against Cruel Sports, which is campaigning to strengthen the Hunting Act.
The charges were brought following an investigation by West Mercia Police and relate to foxes which are alleged to have been killed between May 13 and May 28, 2016.
Oliver and Rose face four counts of animal cruelty contrary to the 2006 Animal Welfare Act.
Julie Elmore (54) and Nathan Parry (38), both from the Brynarw estate near Abergavenny, face four charges of killing fox cubs, contrary to the 2006 Animal Welfare Act, and Paul Reece (47), from Itton, near
Chepstow in South Wales, faces two charges of causing unnecessary suffering in Wormelow, Herefordshire, also alleged to have taken place in May 2016.
The five were not asked to enter a plea and the case has been adjourned until June 19 at the same court.
