Tulips step towards play-off place

Spalding United earned an important point with Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday as they look set to clinch a Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midland Division play-off spot.

Spalding had looked set for another defeat after an Andre Brown ninth minute penalty.
But they improved in the second half creating several chances and got back on level terms though Bradley Rolt with ten minutes remaining.
The Tulips are at home to Coleshill Town on Saturday before a trip to champions elect Stamford on Easter Monday who could be in a position to wrap up the title now being nine points clear of Halesowen Town.
“It was a good performance in general which you want at this stage of the season,” said player-manager Elliot Sandy. “We played some really good football and created good chances.
“We’ve found every time we’ve played away this season, particularly against sides with astro-turf pitches, it’s more difficult.
“They’ve played and probably trained on the surface a lot.
“You have to put your own stamp on the game and we did that and largely nullified Boldemere.
“It’s positive result against another team likely to be in the play-offs.
“When I took the job on I knew it was a tough run of games and we need a good performance and result against Coleshill to take into Stamford who will be well up for the local derby and could win the title.”
Tulips: Duggan, Bucciero, Warburton, Barker, Stainfield, Cartwright, Jones, Draper, Poulter, Broccoli, Ngwa. Subs: L Hilliard, Edge, Peters, Rolt, Sandy.
Attendance: 171.
