Tulips maintain great run of results; Tigers climb to third in table

Spalding United and Holbeach United enjoyed winning afternoons on Saturday (December 5).

An 85th-minute Jake Newman goal secured a fifth win in six Evo-Stik NPL First Division South matches for the Tulips. The 1-0 result against promotion rivals Market Drayton Town strengthened their hold on fourth place. It was the Tulips’ seventh home league win of the season – more than any other side.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United climbed to third in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division with a 3-2 win at Oadby Town.

Sam Hollis put the league strugglers ahead on 18 minutes, Jake Clitheroe levelling for the Tigers on the half hour.

A second-half double from Josh Ford put Holbeach 3-1 up and they clung on for another three points after conceding from a late penalty.

Next up for Darren Jarvis’s side is a tough fixture at Deeping Rangers on Tuesday (December 8, 7.45pm). Deeping beat fourth-placed Newport Pagnell Town 1-0 on Saturday.
