Tulips B and Holbeach A close the gap at top

Two of the chasing pack took the chance to close the gap on leaders Donington C in Spalding and District Snooker League Division One on Saturday.
With the table-toppers not in action, Holbeach A and Tulips B both won to move closer to the title favourites – but second-placed Pyramid B slipped to a costly defeat.
The Bourne side were handed a 4-2 home reverse by Boundary B, with Steve Smith (scr) sealing the win by beating Ray Jackson (R14) in the decisive final frame.
Pyramid are now eight points off top spot – and just two clear of Holbeach A in third, after they saw off Services A 4-2.
Breaks of 24 from Pete Mullane (O21) and Paul Quincey (O14) weren’t enough for the Spalding side, with Colin Dodds (O7), Mick Pearl (O14) and Bobby White (O21) all winners for third-placed Holbeach.
Behind them, Tulips B enjoyed one of the wins of the week as they dispatched friendly foes Tulips A 5-1 to move within 12 points of the summit.
A stellar 54 break from Mark Woodberry (O49) lit up the all-club affair.
At the other end of the table, Bourne SC A jumped off the foot by beating Holbeach D 5-1.
Ian Gibson (O7) enjoyed a 20 break for Bourne, while Mark Gray (O105) was  on stunning form with breaks of 59 and 43, plus a 25 clearance.

In Division Two, Services F are now top of the table after a thumping 6-0 success over Holbeach B.
Ben Lewis (O7) rounded off the triumph with a 22 clearance in the final frame.
They have leapfrogged Long Sutton A, who enjoyed a 4-2 win of their own at Pyramid C.
Sean Swinburn (O28) and Matthew Smith (O42) made breaks of 33 and 30 respectively for them.
It’s tight at the top, with third-placed Long Sutton B just four points behind the leaders following a 4-2 win of their own against Pyramid D.
Marcus Hamilton (O42) sank a 29 break in vain for the Bourne side.
Elsewhere in the second tier, a 30 break from James Waterfall (O21) allowed Gosberton A to whitewash Crowland C 6-0 and Seb Grimston’s (O21) scores of 32 and 22 helped Consti H beat Consti I 4-2.
In Division Three, it’s all square at the top of standings after Crowland A beat leaders Long Sutton C 5-1 to halt their charge.
Dan Mayfield’s (O21) 28 break wasn’t enough for Sutton, who lost for only the second time this season.
Gosberton C are just two points behind the top two having won 4-2 at Consti J.
Nick Keeble (O21) sank a 22 break for the beaten hosts in that one.
