Tree-mendous effort to mark Queen’s jubilee

Around 70 trees have been planted to mark The Queen’s Jubilee just outside Spalding.

Jan Whitbourn organised £3,000 of sponsorship to purchase the trees and was looking for land to plant them.

Ashley King, of Ashwood Homes offered land around the company’s Goodison Road offices for the trees and is funding a memorial plaque to be erected soon.

A team of volunteers helped plant the trees this week with Coun Jack Tyrrell and Peter Ruysen providing equipment.

Jan said: “it looks great already and a big thank you to everyone who has helped it to come together.

“We’re looking forward to officially unveiling it later this month.”
