Hat-tricks from Jack Carpenter and Ben Marsters couldn’t stop Spalding Water Polo from slipping to an 11-9 defeat to Watford in their latest Herts League Division One clash.

Skipper Steve Rogers, Jordan Templer and Adam Sellars also scored for the hosts at the Castle Sports Complex pool in the tightest of games.

Spalding had led 5-4 at the end of the first period and were 9-8 ahead in the third, but three goals in the final four-and-a-half minutes sentenced them to defeat.

The result sees Watford go top of the table, with Spalding second after a second loss in three games.
