Traveller site refused over land claim

A bid to build a new gypsy/traveller site has been refused after one of the consultees claimed it owned part of the site.

The change of use application was submitted for land west of Langary Gate Road, Fleet, Coy near Gedney Hill by Mr and Ms S O’Neill.

As with all planning applications the relevant drainage board was consulted.

In this case it was South Holland Drainage, which says that it owns part of the land in the application.

The fact that the intended access would be over that land was one of the reasons South Holland District Council planning officers rejected the proposal.

Their report also stated concerns over flooding.

It also continued there had been ‘a very high number of objections’ from members of the public without saying how many.

It listed that a parish council that it did not name (presumably Gedney Hill) were ‘strongly against’ the proposal saying it would increase traffic and harm the surroundings.
