‘Town says it with flowers’

Long Sutton In Bloom earned a ‘silver gilt’ award for the town at the East Midlands In Bloom competition.

And there was also a Judge’s Special Award for Joe Benton and his team of ‘basketeers’.

With transport from Hartson Construction, they regularly water more than 90 baskets.

The awards were handed out recently at a ceremony at Grimsby Town Hall.

The judges called Long Sutton ‘a town that says it with flowers’ following its visit on July 10.

“This dedicated and long running group did not disappoint,” the judges comment continues.

“The numerous hanging baskets in the main street, the planters, the sponsorship scheme and the work of ‘Men in Sheds’ along with other groups all combined to make this a memorable judging tour.”

The team behind Long Sutton In Bloom said they were ‘delighted’ with the silver gilt award and the judging panel’s comments.
