Touching the sky to mark what would have been Amy’s 21st

Thousands have been raised for a road safety charity to mark what would have been a Whaplode Drove woman’s 21st birthday.

On July 23, the day after would have been her friend Amy Cooper’s birthday Abby Wright from Holbeach took on the jump for RoadPeace.

Amy died after being knocked from her motorcycle by a disqualified driver in November last year.

Abby, who knew Amy from primary school, said: “I am so grateful for the incredible experience whilst being able to raise money for an important charity and in memory of Amy for her birthday.

Abby and Amy.

“It was an amazing experience! I would love to do it again. It was quite nerve-wracking on the plane which was around 20 minutes to reach around 12,000ft.

“Being above the clouds and seeing the view was well worth the nerves though.”

Amy’s mum Amanda Cooper said: “Myself and my family, as well as Abby’s family and friends, are all so proud of her and grateful for what she has done.

“She and our family are so grateful for all the donations and would like people to know that her just giving page is open until next Monday.”
