Top tier title race heating up as the big guns all fire on top night of action

All of the big hitters flexed their muscles in the best Monday night of action in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League for some time.

In Division One, title-chasing Tekkers and Polishborough continue to mirror each other step-for-step as they both chalked up 6-1 wins against Simple FC and Horse and Groom respectively.

Dark horses You’ve Got No Fans remain a point off the pace after they edged a thriller 4-3 against Notinmymum’s Forest at Surfleet’s Glen Park.

The top tier action got under way with a 2-0 win for Evolution over The Squad, whose poor run of form continues. Adam Brickles secured man of the match (MOTM) as Evolution cemented fifth spot in style.

Mirror Signal Malouda then completed an unlikely double against Pro Ballers to snatch just win number two of the season. It was a strangely one-sided affair after Ballers’ Tommy Ivatt’s early dismissal for foul and abusive language.

Damien Gibbons was MOTM on a top night for basement boys MSM.

Simple FC were soundly beaten by half time in their clash against league leaders Tekkers. The title-chasing outfit, who exerted near-complete domination over a disappointing Simple side, were 6-1 winners. Star man Billy King was again MOTM – his eighth of an impressive campaign.

Rivals Polishborough followed that with a 6-1 victory of their own, with Horse and Groom the unlucky opponents in this copy-cat result. Much like the Tekkers game, this was as one-sided as the scoreline suggests.

Influential and enthusiastic front man Marcin Minczynski was MOTM for the Poles.

Third-placed You’ve Got No Fans and Notinmymum’s Forest played out a seven-goal thriller.  YGNF, who were crowned Spalding Thursday league champions last week, looked to be struggling early on.

But a MOTM showing by Charlie Eccott helped the title hopefuls win 4-3.

East Europa then rounded off Division One with a decent 2-1 victory over Univeg Team as Vladas Forminkas took the MOTM spoils.

Division Two got under way with Sarah’s Boys going down 2-1 against Posh Old Boys – their third loss on the spin. MOTM Shane Miller did the damage early on for the Posh lads, although Matt

Black was reprimanded in the second period for a dangerous tackle.

Meanwhile, Football Club faced their first competitive game since joining the league – and found the going moderately simple with a 3-1 victory over FC Barnicols.

Marcus Parry grabbed MOTM for his work rate and enthusiasm.

Next up, Nibblesborough FC – one of the league’s top defensive performers – picked up a 3-0 win over Bowlcut Wanderers to stay bang in the promotion picture. MOTM in this one was Jordan Graham.

Balotellitubbies and Tekkerslovakia then played out a spicy 1-1 draw in match four. Tekkerslovakia had MOTM goalkeeper Jamie Wroniak to thank for this point.

Next up, The TBME finally ended their appalling run of form with a creditable 1-0 win over Dynamo Kiev. A stop-start game which never really had much flow to it, was pierced only by MOTM Wes Wilson, who was an inspiration up front for The TBME.

The final game saw two first-half goals earn runaway leaders Puyol Pants Down a 2-0 win against Mail Carters.

Ben Davis was MOTM as Puyol stay seven points clear.
