A South Holland school which has gone through a transformation has been awarded an overall rating of Good.
Weston Hills Primary was rated as Requires Improvement at a previous inspection but this time two of the five key areas were awarded Outstanding.
“Weston Hills is an ambitious and inclusive school. Pupils are happy and feel safe. The school has gone through a period of transformation. This has included the introduction of a completely new curriculum design,” says the report.
With 129 children aged from four to 11, the school is part of the Tydd St Mary and Weston Hills Church Schools Federation.
“There are high expectations of all pupils and, as a result, pupils achieve well. Pupils’ attitudes to their learning are exceptional. Pupils show high levels of engagement in lessons.
“They talk and interact with excitement about their learning. Pupils show light levels of independence and take great pride in their achievements” the report adds.
Executive headteacher Sonya Ely said: “I am delighted that the school has moved out of the previous ‘requires improvement’ category and is now regarded as a Good school with Outstanding features identified – a wonderful way to start 2024.”
“The children in particular are recognised for their exceptional behaviour and attitudes to learning,” she added.
“I am incredibly proud of all our school family. To have made such significant progress in under four years.”
The clear modelling of language by adults in the school was highlighted for praise by the report.
“Relationships between pupils and staff are nurturing and strong. One pupil commented: ‘I don’t think any other primary school could beat this school. We are like one big, happy family – a family that learns but also has fun,” the reports says.
Pupils also understand respect and learn a range of different world faiths and cultures.
“Pupils understand the meaning of diversity. They can talk about a need to ‘accept and celebrate’ difference.
“Pupils understand that there are different types on relationships and families,” adds the inspector.
