A staggering 212 medals were collected by swimmers from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club as they shone on multiple fronts at the West Norfolk Open Meet.
Spalding-based South Lincs also won the Top Club trophy at the King’s Lynn competition, while members Lucy Wilson and Frank Lamb claimed the Top Girl and Top Boy accolades respectively.
Wilson competed in 12 events over the weekend and collected no fewer than ten gold medals and a silver.
Her highlight of the weekend was in the 200m freestyle, where she lowered her personal best (PB) time on her way to one of her gold medals.
En-route to her top title, Wilson won her gold medals across all the strokes and distances from 50m to 200m.
Lamb contested 13 events over the weekend and collected an excellent nine gold and four silver medals.
The highlight of his weekend was a new PB time in the 100m backstroke as he claimed gold.
Top Boy Lamb also claimed his gold medals across a range of strokes and distances, including his favoured Individual Medley (IM) events.
Away from the big two, nine-year-old debutant Susannah Poll won the girls’ ten years’ age group 50m breaststroke gold in a PB.
Sigourney Bolton had a host of strong performances in the girls’ 13 years age group, winning four gold medals and five silvers, including a host of PBs.
Younger sister Sophie Bolton set new PB times in all eight events she contested in the girls’ 11 years group.
She took silver in the 200m freestyle (PB) and added a hat-trick of bronzes (100m free, 50m backstroke and 50m free) including two more PBs.
Heidi Woodrow was also competing in the girls’ 11 years age group and went on to claim no fewer than six gold medals and two silvers.
PB times were clocked in her golden swims in the 200m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke.
Meanwhile, Lilli Bowman (girls’ 15 years) set a new PB in the 200m IM on her way to a bronze medal, before adding another bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Younger brother Isaac Bowman set five new PB times at the meet, picking up two sixth places to boot.
Another impressing was Sophie Wilson (girls’ 14 years)as she collected a hat-trick of gold medals in the 200m butterfly, 200m freestyle and the 50m butterfly.
Four silver and one bronze medal followed for her, as well as a handful of PBs.
More medals followed for Emily Briggs, who bagged a silver medal in the 200m backstroke (PB) and three bronze medals (200m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 50m butterfly) also in PB times.
Charlie Ward set six new PB times out of seven swims and claimed a brace of bronze medals in the boys’ 12 years age group. His medals both came in the freestyle events (100m and 50m).
Team-mate Hannah Bruce had an exceptional weekend, claiming seven gold medals in the girls’ 13 years group.
She also set new PBs in her 100m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle victories during her golden weekend.
Will Vere had a busy weekend in the boys’ 13 years age group where he set 12 new PB times in every event that he swam in.
He also picked up eight finishes between fourth and sixth in his events.
Aidan Evans (boys’ 13 years) won a staggering 13 medals at the meet.
His highlights saw him collect silver medals in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke (PB).
Sophia Shackleston claimed a silver in the 200m backstroke in the girls’ 12 years age group with a huge new PB time.
She also swam a heroic 200m breaststroke as, despite losing her goggles at the start, she swam to another new PB.
Lexie Hamilton had a busy weekend as she contested all events on the girls’ 13 years programme.
Hamilton’s highlights saw her sweep to gold in the 200m backstroke (PB), before adding bronzes in the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle (PB).
Older sister Lillie Hamilton claimed six medals in the girls’ 14 years age group.
She took gold in the 100m butterfly (PB), sealed a brace of silver medals in the 200m butterfly (PB) and 200m breaststroke (PB).
A hat-trick of bronze medals followed in the 100m and 200m freestyle and the 200m IM events.
Aaron Sadler (boys’ 12 years) collected three bronze medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle.
He then went on to take silver medals in the 200m backstroke and the 100m butterfly, both in PB times.
But Sadler saved his best swim until the last event, where he flew through the 50m butterfly to claim gold in another PB.
Another to impress was Jess Herriott, who set four new PB times in as many girls’ 14 years events.
Her best performance was a fourth place finish in the 200m backstroke.
Younger sister Louise Herriott also set three new PB times. Her biggest improvement came in the 100m freestyle where she lowered her best by 11 seconds.
Archie Robinson was competing in the boys’ 13 years age group and set new PB times in the 200m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle. He managed seven finishes between fourth and sixth place.
Oliver Lloyd, meanwhile, set a host of new remarkable PB times in the boys’ 13 years age group.
Lloyd lowered his 200m backstroke best by more than 28 seconds, then made a 33 second improvement in the 100m butterfly before another big PB of 25 seconds in the 200m IM. His best results were five finishes of fifth or sixth in his age group.
Likewise, Grace Ravell (girls’ 15 years) also set a host of PBs and made some huge improvements.
In the 200m backstroke Ravell lowered her PB by 35 seconds and had a 33-second drop in the 200m breaststroke to finish in 4.03.32mins. Her best finishes were fifth and sixth.
More PBs came from Mackenzie Poll, who set new best times in all seven events that he competed in over the weekend (boys’ 15 years).
Younger brother Isaac Poll also set a new PB time in his 100m freestyle event.
Kieran Lucy also swam admirably well, taking on a number of events in competition for the first time.
He set new PB times in all six events he competed in, with particularly impressive improvements in the 100m and 200m freestyle.
Reuben Owen was also in fine form as he set new personal best times across a range of strokes and distances.
He collected a bronze medal in the boys’ 12 years age group 200m breaststroke, where he lowered his PB by more than 25 seconds.
Owen also managed four finishes between fourth and sixth place.
Elsewhere, Lucie Lund took home a hat-trick of silver medals in the girls’ 15 years age group (200m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly).
In the butterfly events, she set new PB times before bagging a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke.
Leo Oldershaw had a successful meet in the boys’ ten years age group.
He took silver medals in no fewer than seven events – and for good measure added one bronze to his personal haul. Oldershaw also set a host of new personal best times over the weekend.
Older sister Elysia Oldershaw set seven PB times in the girls’ 14 years age group, with her biggest improvement coming in the 200m freestyle. She also managed a sixth place finish in the 50m backstroke.
Aliyah Mohamed claimed a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke in the girls’ 11 years age group with a new PB. She then set new PB times in a further five events, most significantly in the 100m freestyle.
Zofia Nowak claimed two medals in the girls’ 14 years age group as she set a new PB time in the 50m breaststroke by more than 14 seconds.
Kieran Ng had a hugely successful meet. He contested 12 events and won no fewer than 11 gold medals and one silver.
He also managed to set new PB times in all events he swam.
Some of Ng’s best swims came in the 200m IM with a huge improvement to claim gold.
There were also big improvements in the 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle.
Ng also claimed Regional qualifying times in all three of these events.
Amazingly, Francesco Monaco (ten years’ age group) won all 12 events he contested.
He made a significant improvement in his 200m backstroke with a new PB.
He also set new PB times on his way to gold medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 50m and 100m backstroke and the 50m and 200m breaststroke.
