A century from Josh Lawrence helped Spalding climb out of the bottom two in the Lincolnshire Board Premier League.
His 104 was at the heart of a 31-run win at Market Deeping, with last man Nilantha Atapattu adding a crucial unbeaten 41 in Spalding’s 246 all-out total.
Divyeash Vaseeharan (22) was the only other batsman to pass the 20-mark, with three falling soon after reaching double figures.
Deeping went into the game without a win but ran their visitors close with Aasher Mehmood (46) and Musafa Mughal (43) holding the innings together.
However, captain Ollie Dring’s astute rotation of his bowlers saw five of the six successful as the hosts were bowled out for 215.
Matthew Key led the way with a 3-50 haul, with two wickets apiece for Harsh Bhandari (2-30), Atapattu (2-31) and Walter Kinlock
(2-55), and one for the skipper himself (1-10).
The second victory of the campaign pushed Spalding up two places to ninth in the 12-strong table, ahead of this Saturday’s home match against a Grantham side two places higher.
