Title hopefuls Poles apart as Smith red derails YGNF

Defending Division One champions Polishborough flexed their muscles in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night as they saw off title rivals You’ve Got No Fans 4-1 at Surfleet.

It now looks to be a two-horse race for the top tier championship after Tekkers crushed Evolution 5-0 at Glen Park, leaving them one point ahead of their Polish rivals.

Division One got under way with East Europa’s Vladas Forminkas grabbing his third man of the match (MOTM) prize in the past seven days with a stunning solo performance as his side beat Simple FC 3-2.

That served as the warm-up act for the Polishborough v YGNF contest, which was game two in the top flight.

Within the first few minutes YGNF had two players in the sin-bin as Guy Mantle and Josh Smith were both punished for dissent.

The Poles were unable to make the most of their two-man numerical, but they got a big boost when Smith received his permanent marching orders for foul and abusive language moments after returning. He, along with Mantle, will now face disciplinary action from the UKMA.

The rest of the game was therefore played out as a 6v5 battle and Polishborough made full strides in using their extra player, earning a 4-1 win. Marcin Minczynski was their MOTM.

Meanwhile, the league took the decision to promote Division Two newbies Football Club into the top tier, following two weeks of above-average performances.

They justified their mid-season re-grading with a comfortable 4-0 win over struggling Univeg Team.

Luke Chilvers’ hat-trick in this one saw him leave with MOTM prize.

The big relegation battle of the top tier was Mirror Signal Malouda v Horse and Groom as 12th took on 11th.

After falling behind, two goals from MOTM Lewis Machin earned Groom a 2-1 triumph.

Two of the top tier’s out-of-form sides, The Squad and Notinmymums Forest then met in match five – and it was no surprise that this fizzled out to a dull 0-0 stalemate.

Slippery front-man Reagan Brown did his best to break the deadlock to no avail.

Division One then wrapped up with table-topping Tekkers exerting total control over a disappointing Evolution side. A goal glut from MOTM Billy King was the highlight.

Elsewhere, Mail Carters and The TBME got Division Two started at a slow pace as the duo played out a tiresome 0-0 draw.

Neither side did enough to win, but Lee Copland did earn the MOTM award.

Game two saw Posh Old Boys return to a promotion spot after they beat Balotellitubbies 2-0 in a close, physical and intriguing game.
Will Kirkham was among the scorers for Posh.

The next clash saw Tekkerslovakia pull off a shock result by beating promotion-chasing Nibblesborough FC 3-1. Ryan Howard was MOTM in what was a super showing from the winners.

Rock-bottom Dynamo Kiev continued the shock results for Division Two by beating mid-table FC Barnicols 2-1.

Lewis Franks was Kiev’s MOTM in a much-improved team performance.

League newboys How Far Can You Swim? were then given a baptism fire by a previously out-of-form Sarah’s Boys, who romped to a 10-0 victory. Robbie Thurlow was the MOTM.

The evening wrapped up with Division Two leaders Puyol Pants Down moving to within just one win from promotion as they beat Bowlcut Wanderers FC 3-1.
Ben Davis got his second successive MOTM in this one.
