The eagerly anticipated Spalding League title clash between Tigers C and Consti A, which will dictate who wins the title, was postponed due to illness in the Consti camp.
Elsewhere, there was a cracking game between Rose & Crown and the Lincoln Arms with Rose edging it 5-4. The game can be judged on the doubles results, with Rose going 3-0 up. Lincoln were on an uphill struggle from there. Steve Stancer went on first and won 2-0 with a 14-dart leg and is full of confidence after his competition win at Gorefield at the weekend. James Truman, who hit a 180 and a 17-dart leg, and Hank Watson then won, making the score 5-1. Luke Rhodes, Ted Howling and Dave Bourne hit back for a final score of 5-4. Rhodes and Gary Mace both hit 180s.
Drayman’s Arms beat Consti E 5-4. Consti took the lead, winning two of the three pairs and Josh Ford took it to 3-1. Drayman’s captain Kev Newton made it 3-2 but Consti’s Callum Ward stretched the lead. Phil Newton, Richard Cooper and Josh Grainger then won the last three singles to turn things round. Newton had an 18-dart leg in his singles and an 18-dart leg with partner Richard Cooper in the pairs. Cooper also had singles success with a 16-dart leg.
Ye Old Abbey have all but secured the Division Two title. They beat Drayman’s B 7-2, which means they would need to lose all their remaining games and any title challengers would need to win heavily to catch them. Singles wins for Craig Norbury, Scott Lawrence, Dean Parker, Morgan Parker and JJ Bird sorted the game out for Abbey. Lawrence hit a 180 in his victory. Sole singles winner for Drayman’s was Chris Howling, who beat Dave Norbury.
Green Dragon A beat Ship Long Sutton 7-2. After going 2-1 down in the pairs, Zach Chapman hit a 180 in his victory over Finn Rodgers to level the game.
The Dragon then kicked into gear and won the rest of the games, with Jimmy Tenno hitting a 15-dart leg and Jamie Robson firing in a 17-dart leg.
There was a 6-3 victory for Tigers B against Mail Cart A. Success in the last four games was enough to secure the points thanks to wins from Richard Brooks, Phil Horspool, Tyger Atkin and Mark Robinson. Jacob Herd had a 180 in his victory over Pete Griggs for the Cart, while Harry Faulkner hit a 180 in his singles loss.
The top two teams in Division Three both suffered 5-4 losses to throw the title challenge wide open.
Consti D sat top but lost to Lincoln Arms B. Lincoln went 2-1 up after the pairs and then singles wins from Andy Palmer, Vlad Fomkinas and Sharon Barnard sealed victory. Colin Beckett had an 18-dart leg in his win over Ian Tilley.
Second-placed Holbeach Services lost to Mail Cart B. Singles wins from Jonny Pell, Andy Taylor, Carl Kirk and Kieran Twitchen settled matters. Dan Blakey had a 107 checkout in his loss against Andy Taylor.
There was a 7-2 win for Green Dragon B against Punchbowl B. Three pairs wins were followed by wins from Athena Overton, Kieran Grove and Finn Motram. Punchbowl’s singles wins came from Jamie McHugh and Toby Lyons.
