Do you have time to help Holbeach police?

lincspoliceAn appeal has been launched in Holbeach for volunteers willing to give a couple of hours a week to help the police.

Police Support Volunteers are making a vital difference across the county and Sgt Gareth Boxall of Holbeach Police is appealing for new recruits to assist their local community police in the town.

Volunteer roles can vary but may include helping at the front desk of police stations to aid officers and staff in dealing with queries from the public, offering administrative support, assisting with police training as “role players” or supporting local policing teams through community engagement.

Sgt Boxall said: “For more years than I have been alive, the Special Constabulary has complimented the role of regular officers and given up their time for free in order to police their local communities.

“But now Lincolnshire has widened the field beyond the Special Constabulary and we are recruiting volunteers to help with all sorts of police work.
“We have a number of different roles where we need some help.

“At Holbeach Police Station, we need someone to help with our vehicles by carrying out basic maintenance checks and giving them a clean periodically.

“For anyone not so keen on the outdoors, we also need someone to help out with admin tasks in the police station, making phone calls, helping us keep records and taking notes.

“These are just two positions at Holbeach but Spalding require similar assistance and there are even more roles available elsewhere in the county.
“So if you have a few hours a week to spare, we would be very grateful of some help.”

Volunteers have to go through security vetting and will receive training.

If you’re interested then you can get in touch by a number of different ways including calling in at Holbeach Police Station for a further chat.
