Tigers look away after home woes

Holbeach United will start a spell of seven games in 21 days this Saturday where they will hope to fully cement a position as play-off challengers.

And the spell starts with possibly the Tigers’ sternest test as they travel to the early Thurlow Nunn Division One North leaders Haverhill Rovers on Saturday.
They’re the only unbeaten side in the league having played nine, won 11 and drew two so.
Holbeach may be glad of another away trip as their home form has been dismal recently
On Saturday they lost 3-2 to Wivenhoe Town at Carter’s Park, their sixth home defeat in a row.
Kyle Compton gave the Tigers the perfect start as he nodded them into a fourth minute lead at the back post.
Wivenhoe responded though, levelling matters in the 25th minute via a good finish from Mitch Goddard.
That was how it was at the break before an electric start to the second period.
Almost straight from the kick off Wivenhoe regained their advantage, Harry Miller volleying home having assisted Wivenhoe’s first.
But Holbeach too responded quickly, Ryan Cook beating the offside trap and then the keeper netting two minutes later.
Parity only lasted two minutes though as Wivenhoe regained the lead when Gabriel Kerr was pt through and he made no mistake after rounding keeper Holbeach keeper Josh Simpson.
Holbeach went forward looking for another equaliser, but they were unable to find one and it was Wivenhoe who hung on for the points.

Tigers: Simpson, Greenacre, Bassedine-Matthews, Ling, Oldham, Compton, Cook, Keeble, Thorne, Yambasu. Subs: Wright, Cash, Ibeneme, Roberts.
