Thorogood gives youth a chance for Knights

Pinchbeck United are putting themselves in the hands of youth as they continue building for a new season back in the United Counties League.

Lewis Thorogood drafted in two 16-year-olds for their latest friendly, which brought a 5-1 defeat against Boston Town at Knight Street.

The club is continuing to build the links between their youth set-up and the senior side. They trailled 4-0 at the break but ‘drew’ the second half 1-1.

Tuesday saw the Knights in action again at Bourne Town but, despite showing plenty of character and spirit against a side from two levels higher in the football pyramid, went down 5-0.

Pinchbeck are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Grantham Town to the village at 2pm.

The following Saturday sees the start of the Division One season with the Knights making the trip to Sandiacre Town.

Their first game at their new ‘home’ ground comes the following Saturday, with Radford the visitors to Sleaford Town’s Eslaforde Park.
