The fourth is with ace South Holland racer Goodale at unlimited banger Icebreaker

A bumper crowd enjoyed the 27th running of the Unlimited Banger Icebreaker Teams championship at the Adrian Flux Arena on Sunday.

Some 141 bangers contested ten hard-fought races, with southern-based team Extreme A taking the Points titles and King’s Lynn’s Predators A team landing the Entertainers crown.

South Holland ace Simon Goodale raced for the Boston Warlords ‘A’ team.

Driving a Jaguar XJ series II, he pedalled the old Jag to a fourth place in one of the opening races. Only the top three in each race scored points, but it was a great result on his return to racing action.

Meanwhile, Holbeach-based James Jackson brought along a Mk3 Ford Granada for battle.

Sadly, he did not fare too well and was annihilated by a fellow competitor, meaning his wrecked motor was side-lined for the rest of the day and unable to continue.

Banger action returns in a couple of weeks for part two of the Icebreaker featuring the 1500cc Bangers.

More than 40 teams are expected once again – meaning around 160 racers are scheduled for battle. The cars might be smaller, but the action will be just as extreme.
