Testing of £1m system to share patients’ records between GPs and hospitals

“Final test stages” of a £1million system to allow GPs and hospitals in Lincolnshire to share patient records are now being completed.

The system known as Care Portal will allow health and social care professionals to access records of consenting patients rather than each compiling separate details.

A spokesman for South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “The final test phases are being undertaken at the moment and once these are completed the system will be brought live in stages.
“Over £1million funding was secured from the NHS to develop the system, it is predicted that up to £4million could be saved per year by the Care Portal by increasing integrated working and cutting down on unnecessary imaging and lab tests.”
