Ten man Knights get first win of season

Pinchbeck United picked up their first win of the season as they held on for a 1-0 win at Clipstone despite finishing with 10 men.

Flynn Slater’s 55th minute goals was enough for the Knights to seal the first win back in the United Counties League Division One.

He was put through by Julian Ward and finished well.

With 15 minutes remaining a second yellow was shown to Elliot Foster after a coming together with a Clipstone player.

But Ben Martin earned his second consecutive clean sheet to ensure the Knights took the win.
Martin told the club that was a ‘real positive’.

“It was a poor game in the first with neither side really showing any class,” he said. “In the second half we came out a different side, dominated the game and thoroughly deserved the win.”

Pinchbeck have announced they’ve signed Turkish striker Zeren Akyuz.

A former Holbeach United junior, he’s most recently played with Swaffham Town.

Pinchbeck are back at ‘home’ at Sleaford on Saturday where they host Dronfield Town.

They then have a trip to Nottinghamshire to visit Gelding Miners Welfare on Tuesday night

Knights: Martin, Balding, Brooks, Foster, Howlett, Melson, Sheriff, Shinn, Simpson, Slater, Ward. Subs: Brocklesby, Stevens, Turunen..
