Tekkers have one hand on the top Voice League trophy after vital victory

Tekkers overcame previously unbeaten Football Club 2-0 on Monday night to move within touching distance of lifting The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League’s coveted Division One title.

The biggest tie of the night was also the first game on the Glen Park pitch at Surfleet, with Tekkers going into the penultimate round of fixtures one point ahead of defending champions Polishborough.

The opening exchanges were reserved and controlled, with neither side willing to push forward much. However, the second half was much more open and Tekkers notched two and missed a penalty to grab the 2-0 win which effectively sees them home and hosed ahead of a final day clash with already relegated Horse and Groom.

Star man Billy King bagged his 11th man-of-the-match award (MOTM) for Tekkers.

The second of the title-hunting duo, Polishborough, also kicked-off at 7pm and would have had one eye on the pitch next door as they beat Simple FC 2-0.

A simple goalkeeping error and a counter-attacking goal was enough for the Poles, who head into next week’s game with Evolution hoping for a win…plus a miracle. Adam Mus was their MOTM.

Elsewhere, third-placed You’ve Got No Fans are finishing the season in free-scoring – and that continued with an 8-2 win over Univeg Team. Kieran Rose was MOTM.

Match four was a non-starter as East Europa failed to attend for the second week running. This sees them removed from the division and gifted Mirror Signal Malouda a 5-0 win.

Notinmymums Forest then made it two 1-0 wins over promoted sides in two-weeks with a narrow shutout success against Evolution.

Influential centre-back James Kingston was the star man in this one.

The final game of the night was mixed emotions for Horse & Groom. They performed miracles to beat The Squad 3-1, but were still relegated. Scott Broughton was MOTM for them.

Division Two kicked off with How Far Can You Swim? scoring their first goal since joining the league five weeks ago, although they still lost 4-1 against Dynamo Kiev.

Ryan Barclay, if for nothing else other than for his deft and cheeky lobbed goal, was MOTM in this one.

In-form Tekkerslovakia then crushed The TBME 6-1 to register their biggest ever win in the league.

With star-man Tim Barrass again on points, Tekkerslovakia are now adding goals to their steely defensive abilities.

Next up, FC Salad Fingers ruined Puyol Pants Down promotion party as they eased to a 2-1 win over the new champions. Liam Lachasseigne was MOTM.

Behind them, the promotion race remains three-horse and goes into the final week after Nibblesborough FC beat rivals Sarah’s Boys 3-1.

This pair and Posh Old Boys all sit on 28 points, with Sarah’s Boys just edging ahead on a single goal.

Balotellitubbies and Bowlcut Wanderers couldn’t be separated as they played out an eight goal thriller, split 4-4. ‘Tubbies frontman Michael Cope secured MOTM in the free-scoring game.

The final game of the night was an easy win for promotion hopefuls Posh Old Boys as they beat Mail Carters 3-0 to stay firmly in the hunt.

A MOTM second-half showing from Martin Ward might just have put Posh in the driving seat to go up.
