Tech troubles cancel council webcast

The South Holland District Council Planning Committee webcast was cancelled last week after technical issues.

The planning committee meeting is broadcast online and the video is archived for access after the meeting.

A council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we were unable to webcast the planning committee meeting on Wednesday, July 25, due to a sudden technical issue that emerged with the audio-visual system.

“After working with a technician and our own ICT department this issue has now been fixed and steps have been taken to minimise the risk of the same problem arising again.”

Previously, a number of planning committee webcasts have been rendered unwatchable by audio issues – a problem that was fixed with staff training.

The council holds 11 planning meetings a year and the contract to broadcast them online costs the council £11,900 a year.
