Table tennis round-up: A busy night of action in Spalding and District League

The Spalding and District Table Tennis League returned to action last week with a few teams on top form.

Rusty Nails and JDM found themselves playing each other, with the latter impressing.

Cox and Jon Chesworth (JDM) took all five games, despite Nails’ John Hayter pushing Chesworth all the way in one end before going down 13-11.

New side James Quinton and Ellis were also 5-0 winners against Mine’s a Pint. The Pinters successfully took an end during the doubles, but it wasn’t enough.

Ellis and Hay had a close game, which saw ends finishing 14-12 and 13-11 in their singles tie.

Outsiders and South Holland then had a close match, but the final score was still 5-0 to South Holland.

Wilkinson fought hard against White taking it to five ends, As well as against Hammond.

Davey also had some close matches taking both to four ends.

Nets and Edges had a busy evening, playing some part-played matches.

Jokers beat them 5-0, with the majority of the matches going to four ends.

Sawyer played well, taking his game against Roper to four ends.

Next, Nets and Edges also caught up on a part played match against Outsiders. Sawyer played Joe Beadle, taking that game. The doubles went their way, too.

Sawyer also played a game from the Moulton Shield round 1, against Rusty Nails’ John Hayter.

Sawyer won his game in two ends, 21-14 and 21-11, taking them through to the next round.

Meanwhile, TNC’s Adrian Louis played the half of the match against Hurricane Brothers.

Louis played a strong match, taking both games. But Sam Wallis fought well to take an end, leaving the match currently standing at 2-0 to TNC.
