Long Sutton need a swift improvement in results if they are to avoid a second successive relegation.
After finishing bottom of the Lincolnshire Board Premier League last season, they are now at the foot of the South Lincs Border League Championship standings, albeit with games in hand.
Their latest defeat was by 51 runs and came at home to Skegness.
Sutton gave themselves a fighting chance of victory when they dismissed their seaside visitors for 178 but failed to follow it up when it came to their turn to bat, slipping to 127 all out.
Jake Burton won the toss and put Skegness in. That might have been the correct call, but for visiting opener Freddie Bowser, who struck what proved to be a match-winning 58.
Only one other batsman passed 20 under attack from an impressive bowling line-up led by Rob Simpson (3-35) and captain Burton (3-38)
After the early loss of Rajan Sangha for four, Sutton looked set for a successful run chase with Aron John (25) and Jacob Gray (28) to the fore. Daniel Oldfield chipped in with 15 but it was all downhill from there with none of the middle or lower order getting to double figures.
There was a double defeat for Sutton’s Sunday sides against Grimston in the Kevin Grimmer Division of the Mid-Norfolk League
Mallards lost the away encounter at Grimston, while Colts handed Grimston Lions their first win of the season, sinking to a 16-run home defeat.
Ellis Redden (3-13) led the Colts attack, with two wickets apiece for Noah Warnes (2-13) and Oliver Taylor (2-18) restricting the visitors to 166/8.
Four Sutton batsmen got into double figures but failed to push on before captain Josh Baker (22no) and Isaac Blundy-Gent (20no) shared an unbroken ninth-wicket partnership of 30 in their team’s 150/8 total.
