Pete Emery was the star performer at this week’s Tydd Gote Angling Club matches on the North Level at Main Road – where the roach are still congregating in the early numbers by the bridge.
In the Wednesday Open, Emery found over 11lb of redfins but lost out to winner John Taylor by just half an ounce.
But he made no mistake on the Sunday, as his 10lb 12oz of pinkie caught roach comfortably put him clear of the chasing pack.
Andrew Kilby winkled out 8lb 12oz of smaller fish for second, while Dennis Houghton wasn’t far behind with 7lb 10oz for third.
Dave Parlett took a different approach, fishing the waggler all day for a hard earned 6lb 3oz and fourth place.
