Sunday best as runs flow for centurions

Moulton Harrox piled up the runs on their way to a 272-run Rutland Sunday League Division Four victory over Kettering Town.

Ruari Drumm retired not out on 135 and captain Harry Lovell also called it a day early when he reached 72.

Opener Charlie Poulter had earlier hit 46 and a lower-order blast from Freddie Parrish (26) and Jotham Suwarneraj (22) propelled their team to an impressive 373/8.

After progressing to 52/1, Kettering were stopped in their tracks when Sonal Martin took five wickets, while conceding only seven runs, as they slumped to 72/5 and eventually 101 all out.

Sunday proved to be a good day for runs for South Lincolnshire teams. In the Mid-Norfolk League’s Kevin Grimmer Division, Long Sutton Colts were 231-run victors at Grimston Lions.

Daniel Plant (103no) and Ed Blundy-Gent (101no) both retired after sharing a mammoth third-wicket stand and an unbeaten 48 from Jack Burton saw them rack up an impressive 315/7 from their 40 overs.

The stage was then set for Alice Blundy-Gent to help herself to a 6-33 haul as the hosts were dismissed for 84, with Riley Norris chipping in with 3-45.
