Successful year for centre

Groups affected by the daytime closure of Long Sutton Sports Centre have been offered a home in Sutton Bridge at a popular venue already hosting many events.

The Curlew Centre in Sutton Bridge has been at the centre of the community for the last 15 years.

It’s operated by a not-for-profit charity and already hosts a wide range of activities from weddings and film shows to kick boxing, karaoke, soup lunches, bingo and business meetings.

It’s chairman Mark Everitt used its recent AGM to send the offer out to other organisations which might use its facilities.

“With the leisure centre at Long Sutton closing, we’d welcome the chance to provide a venue for displaced organisations where possible ,” he said. “A thank you goes to all those involved in what has been a successful year for The Curlew Centre, particularly our two splendid caretakers Colleen Brown and Shelley Gittings as well as the many volunteers who have lent a hand.”
