Students give harsh lesson to Knights

More misery was piled on Pinchbeck United manager Lewis Thorogood just as he thought his team had turned the corner after a woeful start to the season.
A six-match losing run was ended in style the previous week with a 5-0 win at Hucknall and confidence was built in last Wednesday’s United Counties League KO Cup tie against Lincoln United.
The Knights held their visitors to a 1-1 draw, only to go out 3-1 on penalties.
Any hopes of bouncing back from that disappointment in the league on Saturday came crashing down with a nightmare 11-0 home defeat at the hands of Loughborough Students.
They fell behind after 14 minutes but were undone by four goals in eight minutes just before half-time. The second half followed a similar trend as the Knights conceded after 53 and 56 minutes and were then hit by three goals in seven minutes before the rout was completed with six minutes to go.
Wednesday’s cup tie had seen Kelvin Ibeneme score from the spot to make things all square after 90 minutes but the visitors could only find the net once more in the shoot-out.
