Pied Calf maintained their 100 per cent record in Division Two of the Spalding Darts League by beating Green Dragon A 6-3 to stay top of the league.
Dragon were 2-1 up after the pairs but strength in depth showed for the Pied with singles win for Paul Faulkner, Jacob Herd, Steve Rawding, Harry Faulkner and Stu Page. Callum Day was the only singles winner for Dragon but player of the night was Green Dragon’s Tim Hester. He had a 180, a 111 checkout and an 18-dart leg in the singles and in the pairs with Day had 17 and 18-dart legs. Dragon’s Shayne Hubbard also hit a 180.
Last year’s Division Three champions Consti D remain in fine form and sit second in the table after beating Drayman’s B 6-3. They won all three pairs and then John Robinson and Jonny Robinson won their singles to seal victory. Consti’s other win came from Colin Beckett and Drayman’s singles winners were Shane Thorpe, Chris Howling and Wigs Harrison. Consti captain Ady Smith hit a 180 in his singles game but lost 2-0.
Tigers B saw off Holbeach Services 6-3. After winning two of the pairs, Tigers had singles wins from Leo Clarkson, Charlie Henderson, Danny Goddard and Pete Griggs. Chris Blakey and Chris Chamberlain were the singles winners for Services. Josh Moyses fired in his third 180 of the season and Henderson had an 18-dart leg.
Tigers C beat Rose and Crown 7-2 to return to the top of the Division One table, with Consti A having a bye. Tigers won five of the six singles games thanks to Mark Horspool, Simon Hill, Ant Richardson, Duncan Hunt and Monty Bunn. Rose and Crown’s sole winner was Gary Mace, who had a 15-dart leg and a 100 checkout. His teammate Ian Lawson had a 108 checkout and Tigers Simon Hill had a 180. Horspool had a 16-dart leg and Bunn had an 18-dart leg.
Lincoln Arms A had a 6-3 win against Consti E to keep up their good start to the season. They went 2-1 up in the pairs and wins for Ben Chester, Harry Walsh, Luke Rhodes and veteran Steve Stancer put them 6-1 up to seal the win. Mark Dixon and Paul Merrill got consolation wins for Consti. Lincoln’s Chester had a 111 checkout.
Drayman’s A beat Ye Olde Abbey 5-4 thanks to some brave darts at the end of the draw. Abbey must have thought the match was theirs after going 4-1 up but wins for Josh Higgins, Richard Cooper, Phil Newton and Josh Grainger sealed the win for the Drayman’s. Scott Lawrence and Phil Newton both had 180s and Higgins and the pairing of Scott Lawrence and JJ Bird both had 18-dart legs.
Green Dragon B beat Lincoln B 6-3 to move into second place in Division Three. They trailed 2-1 in the pairs but wins for Toby Lyons, Ben Laud, Finn Mottram, Callum Templeman and Mick Holstead sealed victory. Templeman had an 18-dart leg in his victory over Nigel Goodwin.
Drayman’s C beat Moulton Harrox 5-4 after going 2-1 up. Chris Reynolds made it 3-1 before wins for Chloe Wicks, James Metcalf and Stu Adams put Harrox 4-3 up.
Shane Evans went on and beat Ryan Munton 2-0 to take it to the deciding game and it was captain versus captain with Connor Newton coming out on top 2-0 against Jamie McHugh.
