Stopped after driving suspiciously

A person stopped for driving suspiciously was found to be at almost twice the legal alcohol limit, a court has heard.

Prosecuting at Boston Magistrates Court, Lee Shepherd said that at 11pm on July 26, the police saw a Ford Focus being driven down Hereward Road into Pennygate , West Parade, Winsover Road and back round into Hereward Road.

The driver was Rytis Andrijauskas, 45, of Hereward Road, Spalding, was driving suspiciously, the court heard and smelt of alcohol when police spoke to him.

Mr Andrijauskas gave a positive breath test and was arrested, giving a reading of 67 micrograms of alcohol in his breath, the legal limit being 35. He admitted the offence.

The magistrates banned him from driving for 17 months but offered him the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course which will reduce the period of the ban by 17 weeks.

He was also fined £300 and ordered to pay £119 in court costs and charges.
