Step up for new dance classes

Ahead of its debut in the Olympics, a dance school is launching new breakdancing class.

Initially the sessions by Diamondz School of Dance, in partnership with Wild Technique Breakers, will be for boys only, but the Pode Hole-based group is hoping to open it up to girls too soon.
Breaking with Jordan Wildman classes will take place every Monday with the first a free trial session this Sunday (August 20).
Sessions will run from 11am to 11.45am for over fives and from 12pm to 1pm for those aged 11 to 18.
There will also be bi-weekly videos.
A spokesman for Diamondz said: “Breaking, also known as breakdance, has recently been declared an official sport in the 2024 Olympics.
“This prestigious recognition highlights the cultural significance and incredible athleticism that breakdance brings to the table.
“We have noticed a gap in dance offerings in Spalding, especially when it comes to breakdancing.
“With our new class, we aim not only to fill that gap but also to promote physical activity among young people in Lincolnshire.
“Additionally, we are determined to encourage the participation of boys in the dance community, as they currently make up the minority in this art form.
“Breaking is an incredible sport and an expressive art form that encourages self-expression, creativity, and discipline.
“Whether the individuals are beginners or have prior dance experience, we invite you to spread the word about this fantastic opportunity.
“We want to emphasise that we have plans to expand and form a mixed-breaking crew in the future.
“We value inclusivity and diversity within our dance community, and we encourage anyone interested in participating, regardless of gender, to register their interest with us.”
