Step forward as South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club’s super six shine on Lincolnshire duty

Six of South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club’s members recently received call-ups to represent Lincolnshire at the junior inter-county competition.

Nitesh Anbazhagan, Alex Sadler, Frank Lamb, Luke Sorrell, Charlotte Ciuberkyte and Isobel Gosling all headed to Luton to compete for the county against teams from Warwickshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Leicestershire.

The Spalding club’s swimmers all competed in a mix of events, where their final placing receives points that go towards an overall team score.

In the ten years age group, Lamb took fourth in both the 50m breaststroke and the 50m backstroke, with new long course personal best (PB) times of 46.84secs and 40.23secs respectively.

Lamb and Sorrell also formed half of the aged ten years 4×50 medley relay team, helping the team to fourth place, while Lamb then helped the age ten years 8x50m mixed squad to sixth place too.

Anbazhagan also had a busy night in the boys’ 13 years age group. In the 100m butterfly his 1.12.90mins was good enough for sixth, while in the 100m breaststroke he was seventh in 1.25.92mins.

Anbazhagan then joined the boys’ 13 years 4×50 medley relay squad, with the team finishing eighth.

Sadler was in the boys’ 100m butterfly and swam a respectable time of 1.14.76mins for second place.

He was also in the butterfly section of the boys’ 12 years 4x50m medley relay as the team finished seventh.

Elsewhere, Ciuberkyte formed part of the girls’ 13 years age group 4x50m medley relay. She swam the breaststroke section of the race as the team swam to seventh place.

South Lincs’ Gosling was also on relay duty for the girls’ 12 years 4x50m medley relay.

She took on the butterfly section of the race and helped the team finish in seventh spot.

On the night, Lincolnshire could only manage an eighth place finish, just one point shy of taking seventh place.

However, it was a further long course swimming opportunity for the South Lincs swimmers and another step forward for the club.
