Stamford too strong for Long Sutton, Spalding 2nd and Moulton beaten too

Long Sutton had no answer for Stamford Town as they slipped to a five-wicket loss in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division on Saturday.

Batting first, Sutton were all out for just 136 in 42.5 overs at Paradise Field.

They started well enough, with Phil Barnes (29) and Adam Wright (43) scoring pretty well up the order.

However, Sam Barrett (4-19), Steve Armstrong (3-31) and Alex Birch (2-20) did all sorts of damage with the ball and left Sutton short.

Jimmy Wright (2-45) got rid of both Stamford openers in their reply, but the visitors coasted to 140-5.

In the same division, Spalding Town 2nd suffered a 117-run defeat at Sleaford 2nd. Ben Bulmer (52) and Sumit Puri (51) both made half-centuries for the hosts as they posted 249-7 from their 45 overs.

Jon Manton (2-49) was the pick of the Town bowlers, while Amelia Gardner (1-39) also chipped in with a wicket.

Only Cameron Roy (32) and Jamie Juckes (23) really delivered with the bat as Town were bowled out for 132 in their reply.

Meanwhile, Moulton Harrox were bowled out for just 39 as Woodhall Spa beat them by 10 wickets.
