Stalemate for Spalding United as Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United crash

Goals were in limited supply for three of South Holland’s top football teams on Saturday.

In Evo-Stik NPL First Division South, Spalding United lost their grip on top spot after being held to a 0-0 draw by Kidsgrove Athletic.

The Tulips are now in second, trailing Shaw Lane AFC – who the host next Saturday – on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United crashed to a humbling 4-0 defeat at Desborough Town in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.

Boss Seb Hayes was clearly unhappy as his Tigers slipped to their third loss on the spin, Tweeting: “That last 30 mins today was an embarrassment!! Time for things to change.”

ChromaSport PDFL side Pinchbeck United also had that losing feeling, going down 1-0 at home to unfancied Nettleham as they crashed out of the Lincs Junior Cup at the quarter final stage.

It was left to Moulton Harrox to bring some cheer for South Holland sides as they romped to a 5-0 success at Uppingham Town to reclaim second place in the PDFL Premier Division.

Crowland Town lost 3-1 at Sawtry in the same division.
