Speedway star Lambert facing a spell out after horror crash riding for Panthers

Gosberton Risegate speedway ace Simon Lambert suffered a nasty injury while competing for Peterborough Panthers on Sunday.

The professional racer was knocked unconscious during the Premier League KO Cup quarter-final clash against Somerset at the East of England Showground – and it was later revealed that the 27-year-old had suffered a broken left hand and concussion.

Lambert was caught up in a crash during heat three when the 27-year-old smashed into the back-straight fence having clipped the machine of team-mate Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen.

The incident led to a one-hour delay – and he is now expected to be out for around two months.

Panthers lost the match 52-38 to seal an 114-66 exit on aggregate.
