The speed limit on a section of the busy A52 will be reduced following concerns from residents and reports of ‘several accidents’ on the stretch.
Lincolnshire County Council’s planning and regulation committee reviewed the limit for the straight stretch of road at Donington, many residents need to cross on foot.
Ward councillor Jane King said most accidents were ‘fender benders’, minor and not involving police or statistics.
She said the parish council would have preferred 40mph but acknowledged the police considered 50mph was more ‘realistic’.
Coun King had previously highlighted the rise in footfall since the new Co op opened.
“People with buggies and small kids, along with older people, have to wait until the road is completely clear, and sometimes it can take a while” she said.
