Spalding United slip to seventh after Coalville end five-game unbeaten run

Spalding United’s five game unbeaten run in Ev-Stik NPL Division One came to an end on Saturday as they went down 2-1 at play-off rivals Coalville Town.

All looked to be going to plan for the Tulips when Tom Waumsley fired them ahead on 22 minutes, but hosts Coalville levelled within four minutes through Jake Woolley.

Alex Troke then netted the winner for the Ravens on 32 minutes, as they cemented second place in the table.

In contrast, Spalding slip to seventh – and are now three points off the play-off places ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Gresley (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, it was a case of goals galore in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division.

Ollie Maltby bagged for goals as unbeaten leaders Moulton Harrox romped to a 9-0 win at Sawtry, with Ian Bradbury, Ash Coddington, Dan Lambe-Hyner, Joe Townsend and Louis Steadman rounding off the rout.

Pinchbeck United also won well, with Ryan Leggett, Ash Murrell, Liam Ogden and player/boss Ian Dunn the scorers in a 5-1 home success over Uppingham Town.

They are now back in the top five after the five-star Knight Street display.

However, Holbeach United Reserves were on the receiving end of a 7-0 spanking at Netherton United, while Crowland Town lost 3-1 at home to second-placed Whittlesey Athletic.
