Spalding United have signalled their intent ahead of the new Pitching In NPL Midlands Division by swooping to complete an eye-catching double signing.
Boss Brett Whaley has moved to seal deals for James Clifton and Elliot Sandy, who have both committed to the Tulips for the 2022/2023 season.
Former Boston United defensive midfielder Clifton joins Spalding from divisional rivals Corby Town and brings further experience from spells at Nuneaton, Alfreton and Basford.
Sandy, who was captain at Corby last season, also brings a wealth of experience having enjoyed spells at Banbury, Rushden and Diamonds, Kettering Town and Brackley during his career.
Boss Whaley had been looking to add some experience to his squad and is happy with the double raid on the Steelmen.
He said: “I’m delighted to have both players onboard, their experience is much needed and invaluable for us.
“They will bring a winning mentality and attitude to the squad from the off. This represents a great start to our summer signings.”
The double deal follows the news that Nathan Stainfield has committed to the club for another year, having won three awards at Spalding’s end of season bash – including manager’s and supporters’ player of the year.
