Spalding United’s unbeaten pre-season was ended by a 5-2 defeat at Yaxley on Saturday, while Holbeach United cruised to a 4-0 win at Wisbech St Mary.
The Tulips, who had been water-tight in their earlier friendly fixtures, were sunk by goals from Phil Stebbing (2), Dan Cotton (2) and Scott Bogusz at In2itive Park.
Brad Barraclough did bag a brace for Dave Frecklington’s side, but the defeat is something of a shock against lower-graded opposition from the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.
Holbeach, meanwhile, eased to victory in a hastily-arranged fixture at Wisbech St Mary.
Goals from Andrew Tidswell (2), Jordan Thomas and Josh Ford grabbed the goals for Tom Roberts’ charges.
Elsewhere, Pincheck United emerged unscathed from two friendly fixtures in as many days at Knight Street.
Ian Dunn’s side beat a Boston United XI 1-0 on Friday night thanks to a strike from Tony Edwards, then drew 1-1 against Horncastle on Saturday. Fabio Ramos put them 1-0 up, but an 89th-minute strike denied the hosts victory.
Also on Friday night, Moulton Harrox lost 2-1 against Langtoft United in the Jack Hogg Memorial Shield. New signing Marcus Parry notched Moulton’s goal.
Long Sutton Athletic, meanwhile, were held to a 2-2 draw by Wimblington at London Road on Saturday.
