St Paul’s School rated ‘inadequate’

A Spalding school has been branded ‘inadequate’ by inspectors.

St Paul’s Community Primary and Nursery School on Queen’s Road was inspected by Ofsted on June 25 and 26 this year.

The inspector branded the school ‘inadequate’ in the categories of leadership and management, quality of teaching learning and outcomes for pupil.

It was classed as ‘requires improvement’ in the categories of personal development, behaviour and welfare and early years provision.

The summary of the report criticises both leaders and governors that: ” Pupils do not receive an acceptable standard of education. Leaders do not have the capacity to improve the school quickly enough.

“Leaders do not ensure that pupils are well prepared for the next stage of education. Pupils’ outcomes in reading, writing, mathematics and phonics are too low.”

The report lists two strengths in that leaders ensure that “the provision for pupils personal, development, welfare and safety is good” and that “pupils behave well.

“They are kind, caring and police,” the report states.

In it’s previous Ofstedn inspection in 2017 the school had been rated as ‘requires improvement’.
