Community spirit was out in force in Spalding on Sunday for the town’s first annual People’s Parade.

The parade started and finished at the Sir John Gleed School field, where there were plenty of activities going on to keep everyone entertained.

Parade manager Bruce Alexander said: “The event went exceptionally well and the enthusiasm from the people involved was amazing.
“We had 23 items in the parade itself ranging from dance groups to schools.
“The Polish community were great and really got into the spirit of things.
“We had invaluable support from the Lions and the Rotary Club and I would personally like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make the event a success.”

Mr Alexander said it was a chance to find out whether people would get behind the parade and it now looks like becoming an annual event.
Other entertainment on the field included live music, a bouncy castle and food stalls.

Mr Alexander added: “We were lucky because it was a beautiful day which definitely helped.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to make next year’s parade bigger and better.
“We want to get everyone on board for the future as this is all for the community.”
