Spalding one of the busiest property markets in the country

Spalding had one of the busiest property markets in the country last year, it’s been claimed.

Using data from Right Move, mortgage company Haysto has worked out how many house purchases had taken place in 2020 compared with the population of the area.

In Spalding there were 1,023 house purchases which equates to 281.6 homes sold per 10,000 of the town’s roughly 36,000 population.

That’s the ninth highest houses sold compared with a town’s population in the country.

The busiest property market was in Huntingdon with 403 purchases per 10,000 population.

Portsmouth had the fewest with 51 homes sold per 10,000 population.

Paul Coss, co-founder of Haysto, said: “The impact of Covid-19 changed the property market in 2020 nationwide.

“I believe when we come out of lockdown and the economy starts to bounce back, this could be a good year to move or get on the property ladder.”
