Spalding League’s British Rail steam to inter-town cribbage crown

Spalding-based British Rail have steamed through to be crowned regional champions after a Champions League of South Lincolnshire style tournament.

After winning the title in the Spalding Cribbage League, they took on the winners of the Bourne, Stamford and Grantham leagues in the inter-town tournament.

The round robin tournament saw each side play six matches each.

British Rail finished as the only side with more games won than lost to take the title from the White Lion (Grantham League) by two points.

Jolly Brester, of Stamford, and New Inn, of Folkingham, were the other sides involved.
