Spalding Coneys store closed

Spalding’s Coneys store has closed with immediate effect.

A notice appeared on the door of the Broad Street store today (Monday) saying it has ceased trading and the holding company, Spalding Apparel Limited, is being placed into liquidation.

The statement reads: “The director of Spalding Apparel Limited, trading as Coneys Department Store in Spalding has regrettably taken the decision to cease trading, meaning that the store is closed with effect from 29th May 23.

“Scott Crowson, director has commented: ‘All possible avenues have been explored to save the business and keep the store open, but due to significant increases in costs and declining sales it was decided that there was no option other than to close this store. The management of the business would like to thank all the staff for their hard work and to all our customers for their continued support over the last two years.

“Arrangements are being made to place Spalding Apparel Limited into liquidation.”
