Spalding car showroom and service centre could move to Pinchbeck

A new car sales site could be built on an “important gateway site” in Pinchbeck.

EMG Motor Group wants to relocate from St John’s Road in Spalding to a more prominent position in Elsoms Way, just off the Wardentree Lane/West Marsh Road roundabout.
One side of the road would be the car showroom and outdoor display area, the other would have a service centre, parts department and tyre bay.

It is estimated that the showroom move could lead to more than twice the visitors the business has currently.

EMG has been looking for a new site for some time.

Agent Lindum Group said: “Unfortunately, the group have had considerable difficulty in finding a suitable site, having looked at various options within the surrounding area. They are very keen to remain in the Spalding area, and this has also been supported by South Holland District Council given the obvious benefits of retaining the jobs and associated inward investment.”

Lindum said that the proposed showroom site had been subject to planning consent in the past, but no development had been forthcoming despite aggressive marketing through Longstaffs.

It added: “The site is now in the ownership of the applicants, and this therefore represents the only real prospect of bringing forward development on this important gateway site.”

The move would be expected to create four new jobs, taking the total to 32.

South Holland District Council expects to determine the planning application by mid-October.
There is no detail yet on the future of the Spalding site, if the move goes ahead.
