South Lincs duo steer Lincolnshire to fine fifth place at Sheffield event

Two top teenage talents from South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club were in action at the ASA National County Team Championships in Sheffield on Sunday.

Will Swain (age 15) and Luke Elliott (16) were both selected to represent Lincolnshire at the Ponds Forge pool event.

There were high expectations of the team this year, having jumped up from 14th in 2013 to ninth in Division Two last year.

Swain swam the 100m freestyle in the 14/15yrs age group in a personal best time of 55.07secs, while Elliott finished the 100m backstroke in the 16/17yrs age group in a time of 50.84secs.

Both swimmers were also part of relay teams, which are always exciting and often crucial when it comes to points.

With the top four teams all guaranteed to be promoted to Division One, Lincolnshire managed a fine fifth – which was an agonising six points shy of a coveted promotion place.
