South Holland racers were in the thick of the action as the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn hosted its explosive Big Weekend event.
With two big championship events on the card, fans and race teams from across the country and mainland Europe journeyed to the venue and were witness to some of the best stock car and banger action you will see anywhere so far this season.
First up, the 2 Litre saloon stock cars raced in their European Championship on Saturday. These drivers are the most ruthless and hardest hitters of the stock car world – even more so with a championship up for grabs. Indeed, this event which saw the first two drivers battling it out right to the last corner.
Spalding’s Tom Yould qualified throughout the night to start second row inside of the 30 plus car grid, but he was taken around and into a spin at the very start of the race which dropped him to almost last.
However, a great drive saw him battle back to finish in an excellent ninth position.
The Sunday action then featured the 2 Litre National Bangers, racing in their world final event.
A chaotic and big hitting race followed, unfortunately without a South Holland driver on the grid.
Across the weekend the 1300 stock cars were also in action.
Spalding’s Ricky Ivatt had spent all week repairing his car from a hefty shunt on Bank Holiday Monday and was rewarded with a fifth place in one of his races on the Saturday.
On Sunday, it was Pinchbeck’s Dan Booth who claimed highest spot, with a seventh in the main race.
