South Holland awards recipients congratulated by council’s business growth portfolio holder

South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for business growth has praised the two recipients of council-sponsored accolades in South Holland Business Awards 2016.

The council sponsored the Business Person of the Year award for the second year running, which was won by David Ball, of Neame Lea Nurseries. It also handed out a special Lifetime Achievement Award to Ann Savage, group technical director at Bakkavor.

Council joint deputy leader Nick Worth presented both with their awards.

He said: “Ann has over 35 years of food industry experience and her influence and impact has stretched beyond that role through her active engagement in industry-wide governance and consultation roles. She has been a role model for women succeeding in a science-based industry at a senior level.

“David Ball is passionate about driving the Neame Lea business forward and over the past two years the business has invested over £10million in new infrastructure and equipment to ensure the Spalding-based facility is one of the finest growing sites in the UK.”

He added: “I would like to thank everyone who entered and attended the business awards and the Spalding Chamber of Commerce for once again organising such a wonderful event.”

The presentation night was held at Springfields Conference and Events Centre in Spalding on November 25.
