Society’s goes back to the Victorians for the event

Families can get in the festive frame of mind by celebrating a Victorian Christmas event at Ayscoughfee Hall, in Spalding, on Sunday, December 7.

Attendees can drop-in from between 12noon and 2.30pm.

During this event, children can have a go at making a range of seasonal crafts using recycled materials – including decorative paper chains, 3D Christmas cards, origami paper stars and book folding.

Visitors also have the chance to create their very own super-scented pomander to take away.

“It’s a great opportunity to discover more about the origins of our Christmas traditions and how they’ve evolved over the years,” explains organiser Louisa Evans, from Spalding Gentlemen’s Society. “It’s a fantastic way to hear how our Victorian ancestors celebrated the festive season.

“We’ll end the session with some carol singing for everyone to enjoy before heading home.”
